CAST is a group of neighbourhood volunteers which aims to give crisis support to people in need who live in East Cardiff CF3 and are affected by the coronavirus pandemic. They work as a partnership partnership between Rumney Coronavirus Support Group, Eastern High and Bethania Church. Their support includes:
- ‘Crisis response’: for people who can’t afford it, they can give a ‘hand up not a handout’, helping to pay for urgent essentials, e.g. groceries and utilities. They also deliver local donations to people in need, plus medicines and supplies to people who are isolating.
- Signposting & referral scheme: Signposting and referral to other agencies such as Fuel Vouchers and Tenancy Support.
- Trowbridge Pantry – Part of Your Local Pantry national network, open Fridays 10a.m.-2p.m. For Trowbridge residents only.
- ‘Pantry Plus’ – for residents of CF3 in need:
- Social support: facilitating social contact, information on community activities, signposting and referral to other agencies.
- Well-being programme: Social events and activities at Trowbridge Community Centre and around East Cardiff CF3.
- Grocery donations: delivering to and from our food pantry at Trowbridge Community Centre; also to our partners projects at Rumney Chapel and Beacon Centre St Mellons.
