Summer Reading Challenge Volunteer

The Summer Reading Challenge is a fun, national initiative for children aged 4–11, encouraging them to keep reading during the school holidays. Cardiff libraries and hubs will be hosting 30 exciting events between 20th July and 1st September, and we’d love your support.

What you’ll do

• Welcome and encourage children taking part in the challenge
• Help children stay motivated to read
• Support fun activities such as crafts, story sessions, and themed events
• Help create a friendly, inclusive and engaging environment

What we’re looking for

• A passion for reading and enthusiasm for working with children
• Friendly, approachable and reliable individuals
• Good communication skills
• Commitment to a minimum of 4 events over the summer
