The Rumney Coronavirus Support Group is a non-constituted community group comprised of upwards of 60 volunteers. We aim to get help quickly to elderly and vulnerable people affected by the coronavirus pandemic . We have 15 Neighbourhood Support Teams (NESTs) of volunteers across Llanrumney, Rumney, Trowbridge, and St Mellons. We provide a range of services from ‘Rapid response’ delivery of groceries, supplies and medicines, to ‘Safe social contact’.
Our NESTs in Trowbridge and St Mellons are also growing into a new community action partnership between our Group, Eastern High and Bethania Church: Coronavirus Action St Mellons & Trowbridge (CAST).
We require a part-time Volunteer Co-ordinator (up to 10 hours a week) to take up the following voluntary role:
1. Recruitment of volunteers; point of contact: There is currently a ‘live’ appeal for our volunteers through Volunteer Cardiff, churches and other groups, but you may need to manage an appeal for more as demand for our services increases.
2. Administration of volunteers: We get about 2 volunteers a day on average coming to us. They all need:
o Welcoming and organising into teams
o Providing clear role descriptions
o Ensuring Health & Safety and safeguarding guidelines are understood and followed; checking DBS if they have one
o Putting on our confidential database
o Supporting / motivating and answering queries; providing information & advice.
