‘ANCLE’ (Allied Health and Nursing Collaborative Leg Engagement) Café is a weekly clinic for patients with chronic venous leg ulcers. During the ANCLE Café, patients and their caregivers can take part in student-led activities in between receiving treatment from community and district nurses from Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. Patients are invited to sit back, have a chat, and enjoy a warm drink in a relaxed setting.
We’re looking for a chatty person who can spare a couple of hours a week to volunteer within the Ancle Café.
Key Tasks:
- Welcome attendees and help create a friendly, inclusive atmosphere.
- Prepare and serve hot and cold refreshments safely and hygienically.
- Lead a LIFT (Low Impact Functional Training) session suitable for a range of abilities.
- Encourage participation and support attendees during the session.
- Assist individuals who may need help moving around or accessing seating.
- Help with setting up and tidying the café space before and after sessions.
- Follow all relevant health and safety, safeguarding, and food hygiene procedures.
Skills and Qualities Needed:
- Friendly, approachable, and respectful.
- Confident in engaging with individuals and groups.
- Willing to lead or learn to lead a LIFT session (training provided).
- Reliable and able to commit to a regular schedule.
- Comfortable supporting people with varying needs.
Training and Support Provided:
- LIFT training – Low Impact Functional Training
- Volunteer induction and safeguarding training
- Fire safety and building orientation
- Dementia awareness training
- Ongoing support from a Community Volunteer Mentor
