|Volunteer Mentors- Cardiff and Newport
Llamau is the leading homelessness charity in Wales, supporting the most vulnerable young people and women. We are particularly well known for working with those most at risk – care leavers, people who have been involved with the criminal justice system, people who have experienced domestic abuse and people who have had chaotic and disadvantaged lifestyles. They need high levels of individual support to help them gain the skills necessary for them to live independent and purposeful lives in their communities.
Would you like to become a Volunteer Mentor, supporting young people in Cardiff or Newport who may have experienced being in care or who are unable to live at home?
Mentors will act as positive role models to help motivate young people to access employment, training and volunteering opportunities, as well as engage in social activities in their local communities, enabling them to build a network of support to help maintain independence beyond support.
You will receive a comprehensive induction, ongoing training, support and supervision.
Travel and expenses for activities will be reimbursed.
Volunteers hours are flexible and will be roughly 2-4 hours weekly or fortnightly.
How you can help:
To offer additional support to young people support by Llamau aged 16-24. Help build their self-esteem, self-confidence and emotional well- being. This will assist them in developing healthy relationships and pursuits which in the longer term will support their transition towards independence.
