A bit of information about why we are looking to take on volunteers and what we have to offer them –
We are a private registered, small care home provider, based in Fairwater, and work with men with mental health needs. There are three members of staff employed at the home on a full time basis. I am looking to take on one or two volunteers to work alongside my staff team to actively encourage, pr0mote and participate in social activities with the residents, this may include cinema/theatre outings, going for a game of pool, going to a quiz, café, walk to the park, music event etc, volunteers may be working alone with the residents for some activities but this will be risk assessed prior to the activity taking place.
We envisage one of our residents returning to live independently in the community with support, in a few years’ time, if we can support and encourage him to build on his self-esteem, confidence and social skills.
A job description for the volunteer role is available.
You will not be undertaking the same role as paid staff , the role is very specific and will only apply to social activities and confidence building. There will be a full induction into the home (training0 and the way we work, what we expect and what the volunteer expects from us, as well as free training and a good opportunity for development, especially for someone looking to work in the field, or for someone who enjoys supporting others.
