Cardiff Writers’ Circle (CWC) is seeking a PR and Marketing Coordinator to help promote an 8 month creative writing project in Cardiff this year. Candidates with creative ideas and experiences in marketing are preferred.
Who we are. Established in 1947 with the aim of supporting the art of writing in all its forms CWC is the oldest creative writing group in Wales. We are entirely voluntary and this year (2022) marks our 75th anniversary.
Running from May to December ‘Cardiff 75’ is an 8 month project to celebrate 75 years of creative writing in Cardiff and to strengthen the local writing community through small scale activities, training and events in partnership with other local writing groups and agencies . Project elements include: · A ‘Writers’ Gathering’: bringing local writers, publishers and others together to network, learn and exchange ideas. · Writer development through creative writing workshops and other opportunities. · Open mic and poetry reading sessions in small public venues. · Publication of a collection of new work by participants towards the end of the year. · Ongoing promotion of project events and local creative writing on social media and local print/broadcast media. We are good writers and story tellers but we lack publicity/marketing knowledge/skills and seek experienced support in this area in the lead up to, and for the duration of, the project. About you § Enthusiastic, passionate and communicative, flexible with time § Campaign marketing experience (digital and traditional) § Current media contacts How to apply your talents Support related publicity and marketing in the lead up to, and for the duration of, the project:
· Help plan a cohesive and deliverable cost neutral PR/marketing plan with digital (social media), local print and broadcast media content. · Work with CWC project team and others to develop content. · Provide limited mentoring to up to 3 volunteers to help them develop basic marketing understanding and skills.
When: starting as soon as possible and finishing December 2022. Hours flexible to suit you but likely to be equivalent to one half day per week.
Where: mainly home based with meetings mainly via Zoom, with some physical meetings in Cardiff.
Who: working with the volunteer Project Team and up to 3 marketing volunteers. Initial primary contact: Martin Buckridge project lead.
How: We can provide most of the content – about the project (what we want to achieve, what’s on etc), CWC and other groups and the many benefits of creative writing in addition to published and unpublished writers’ personal stories, short stories and poems. The marketing budget is minimal and use of social media and free print/broadcast media will be essential. We have some access to free English/Welsh translation if required.
