About CUSS Heritage Project:
Cardiff University Social Services (CUSS) – which later became Innovate Trust – set up the very first supported living house in the UK and has been working closely with SVC since the 70s!
This is a unique opportunity to help tell the untold story of CUSS and the impact it had on future generations of people with learning disabilities and their families.
Volunteers will be doing heritage work hands in hands with a group of volunteers with learning disabilities. Tasks will include doing research, interviews and recording, filming and preparing an exhibition, while enabling people with disabilities to participate in their local community in a valued social role and contributing to developing their skills and independence.
About Student Volunteering Cardiff (SVC):
We are an independent, student-led charity based in Cardiff, established in 1970. Our volunteering projects give Cardiff residents (students and community members alike) the chance to give a little to their community. Volunteers work with the homeless, children and young people, those with disabilities and even the environment so you can be sure we have something for everyone!
