Cardiff Council through the “Friends in Need Programme” is providing befriending/wellbeing calls that can help “shielded” individuals and vulnerable members of our community.
We are looking for volunteers to help us making wellbeing calls to the over 50s people who are self-isolating because are most at risk from the Coronavirus. The aims of the calls is checking whether they are able to meet their social needs or physical health needs, to improve their mental wellbeing, to signpost them to additional provision if required, to check that they have access to all the support and provision they need such as food parcels or picking up prescriptions or medication on their behalf or simply to socially engage – by having a chat – if they feel lonely or isolated. The volunteer will have a script to follow which will give them directions on what to say. To be eligible you MUST have all of the following: • You must have a mobile phone with unlimited minutes to call • You must have a home computer or tablet and an email address to access the name and numbers of the people to be called. Even if you are self-isolating there will be opportunities for you to help. If you would like to know more about this opportunity or register as a volunteer with us, please call or email. |
