Independent Age: the older people’s charity that offers free friendship services to help alleviate loneliness. A charity founded over 150 years ago, we’re independent so you can be.
As an Assessing Volunteer, you’ll be able to use your keen observation skills and understanding of the needs of older people to assess their suitability for our friendship, information and support services.
You’ll carry out an initial assessment over the phone and then visit the older person to assess how we can help them. Your detailed assessments are going to help us to decide what support we can give to older people who ask for our help.
You will be assessing whether the older person will be requiring the services of a Volunteer Visitor. Our Volunteer Visitors make a real difference in people’s lives and will be matched with an individual living in their local area.
Skills required: listening skills, patience, rapport building, understanding of boundaries, communication skills.
