|Cardiff Council Adult Learning “Learning For Work” Service offer a range of flexible learning opportunities that are designed to support individuals to take their first steps back into learning and to assist them to progress to further learning, training or employment. These Welsh Government funded courses are offered free to eligible learners aged 16+ and include a range of IT courses as well as courses that assist with the development of skills for those looking for work in childcare, hospitality or retail.
Volunteers play a very important part in the delivery of Cardiff Council Adult Learning courses. You will be supporting our tutors in the classroom to allow us to offer a higher level of assistance to learners who need additional support in reaching their learning goals
To work closely with the tutor to ensure a positive learning experience is provided.
To assist with literacy and numeracy skills.
To support and promote learners’ confidence.
To assist with practical tasks in the classroom.
To assist with ICT skills.
To support accreditation.
To carry out some administration tasks as directed by the tutor
To adhere to and promote the class contract.
To adhere to council policies.
To attend regularly once a commitment has been made.
To participate in any relevant training.
To discuss and regularly review with the tutor the support required in the classroom.
Volunteers always work under the guidance of a tutor, for whom they are a valuable teaching resource. Volunteers are never responsible for the group, or the content of sessions.
Volunteers are encouraged to attend the “Supporting Adult Community Learning” course.
